A complete cast copper-alloy Medieval bar mount, dating to c.1350-1400. The remains of both rivets are in situ. The mount is formed of a central sub-oval body from which two sub-circular terminal lobes extend. The terminal lobes are drilled and countersunk below to accommodate copper alloy rivets which would have attached the mount to a strap. The terminal lobes are of same lengths. All three lobes are hemispherical in section and concave on the underside. The upper surface of the central lobe is decorated with four roughly incised transverse lines, a section of which has been cross hatched with vertical lines. Roughly incised lines separate the central lobe from the terminal lobes.
