An incomplete Roman copper-alloy T-shaped, Bow brooch circa AD 50-150.
The pin is missing and the chain/head loop is fractured.
The rolled tubular wings, diameter 5mm, contain the remains of the axis bar. There is a slot in the centre of the tube to accomodate the pin, which is absent. The bow is comma shaped,with 4 longitudinal grooves. The bow narrows from 7mm at the head to 2mm at the foot.
The head loop is 4mm width centred on the bow and protruding 3mm beyond the wings. The foot protrudes very slightly. The catch plate is fractured with the pin-retaining curl absent. The catch plate is 10mm at the bow x 5mm x 9mm and trapezoid in shape The underside of the bow is smooth. The thickness of the bow is 3mm. The overall Length is 34mm and the width 12mm
