A heavily worn sherd of wheel thrown (with handmade elements) late Iron Age to early Romano-British Ceramic vessel probably of closed-mouth jar type produced in Romano-British sandy fabric, c.1st century AD in date.
Description: The sherd is irregularly shaped and has small handmade rim and very short neck and shoulders with a large bulbous body. The fabric has an unoxidised outer surface and unevenly oxidised inner surface leaving it a dark grey on the outside and various shades of brown and grey on the inside. The inclusion are common and mostly small rounded to subrounded sandy grit, with some sparse small rounded shells and angular grog. The breaks are well rounded have likely been worn by rolling action of water.
Measurements: 100mm wide, 74.31mm high, (likely rim diameter of 100mm) 6.83mm thick and 77.14g in weight.
