An Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy mount (c. 500-c. 600).
One half of the object is roughly 'D'-shaped in cross-section and the other half is broadly flat and sub-rectangular in plan. The 'D'-shaped part has flat sides and top and the edges are bevelled. There are six ring-and-dot motifs, two on the top, and two on each bevelled edge and they are distributed like the number six on a die. One end of the 'D'-shaped part has a break. The flat part has two rivet holes, one at each outer corner and each contains the remains of a copper-alloy rivet. The underside of the 'D'-shaped part is hollow.
This object is light green and corroded with flecks of a dark green patina.
Length: 27.0mm; width: 14.4mm; thickness of flat part: 2.7mm; overall thickness: 9.4mm. Weight: 12.83g.
