Roman (AD c. 43-400) cast copper-alloy stud or mount: The stud has a flat circular head which is decorated on the outer face. The decoration has a solid border within which there is a circular of eight triangular cells pointing to a central circular cell. This leaves the field forming a high-relief eight-pointed star. The cells all have traces of red enamel. On the reverse there is a trace of a central stud.
The surface of the stud has an abraded surface with a mid green-grey patina.
It measures 25.17mm diameter 4.6mm thick across the centre and weighs 7.15g
Similar studs have been recorded on the PAS database: YORYM-DEC208, LANCUM-E409A2 and SWYOR-3DFFB6. Crummy (1983) illustrates a similar stud, No. 3218 dating to the Roman period.
