An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval spur buckle, dating to AD 1250-1450. It survives the rear of the buckle frame, which is integrally cast with an elongated plate. The plate has a slot still blocked by a fragment of the pin loop and a circular hole behind it. The plate continues with a narrow and rectangular cross-sectioned neck, which ends in a sub-triangular terminal pointing outwards; the terminal has two barbs curving towards the neck and a circular hole at its centre. The front face of the buckle has a moulded decoration, which is not clearly visible because the plate is folded on itself; few traces of gilding are visible.

Cf with examples of the type in Whitehead (1996, chapter III). See similar buckle on this database: IOW-6C830A.
