WEIGHT

Unique ID: SWYOR-EEB64B

Object type certainty: Possibly
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A lead possible weight of unknown date, Roman to Post Medieval, AD 43 - 1800. It is a cuboid of solid lead. One end is concave, and the edges project slightly. The sides are all flat and smooth. The other end is rough and is probably a break, now patinated. The object has a regular grey patina. There is no visible decoration, though natural imperfections in the metal have left slight marks on the surface. It is 16mm long, 12mm wide and 11mm thick. 21g.

This object could have been used as a weight, but it appears to be incomplete. It could also be the casting well and runner from metal casting, but it seems a little large. It could also have had many other uses.
