Unique ID: SWYOR-EDCDF6

Object type certainty: Certain

An unidentified copper alloy artefact, of Post-Medieval to Modern date, about AD 1500 - 1950. It consists of a long, flat stem which is rectangular in plan and broken in the middle. The ends of the two broken pieces do not match, suggesting that there may be a third piece, now missing. One of the pieces broadens into a flat oval before narrowing again to a flat strip which curves inwards. The centre of the oval is pierced by a circular iron rivet. The inner side of the flat strip is decorated with a row of concave, circular depressions and the outside with a raised longitudinal ridge of D-shaped cross-section. The reverse of the oval portion is plain. The artefact has a patchy, light green patina. The combined length of the two pieces is 79.8mm. It is 20.6mm wide and 4.4mm thick. It weighs 17.62g.

Similar artefacts are recorded on the database: compare for example records DENO-B659B5 and SWYOR-715FC5.
