A complete Roman copper alloy Baldock type nail cleaner dating from c.43 - 200 AD. The cleaner is leaf shape, and flat. The terminal end of the cleaner is shaped into two rounded prongs, these are worn and the central notch is slightly off centre. There is an incised line running around the edge of the cleaner on both sides. At the attachment end is a sub triangular shaped loop, pierced with a circular hole in the centre. The corners are rounded, and the attachment sits at 90 degrees to the nail cleaner. The nail cleaner has a dark green patina, and measures 45.8mm in length, 8.6mm in width, and 0.8mm in thickness. It weighs 1.38g.
Similar nail cleaners can be seen in Eckardt and Crummy 2008, page 119 figure 58, and Crummy 1983, page 58, number 1874.
