Roman, copper alloy brooch of 'Polden Hill' type, first century AD. Traces of silvering on surfaces, bow truncated but bore two longitudianal grooves. The underside of the wings is hollow to accomodate a coiled spring secured by an axial pin held in perforated plates at the ends of the wings. Each of the wings bears two transverse mouldings flanked by narrow grooves and a deeper, wide groove. The mouldings bear incised, transverse lines. Length 16.0mm, Width 23.8mm, Height 8.0mm, Mass 3.79g.
