An incomplete copper alloy Fob seal of Post-Medieval to Modern date (AD 1750-1900). The object is composed of a circular suspension loop set at a right angle to the arms with a central circular perforation. The handle below the loop is of an openwork design consisting of a C-scroll with inward-turning scrolled ends which meet the boss. The boss is steeply domed with a sub-rectangular base which has been distorted by post-depositional processes. The boss is decorated with radiating lines around the arms and a scrolling design around the middle section. The lower circumferential border bears a partially legible inscription within the rectangular border. It reads PORTA ◦ FR[???]D
The glass at the base of the object is rectangular and purple in colour and depicts two classically styled figures walking right with walking sticks or similar with a line below.
The metal is a dark green in colour with a pitted and corroded patina. There are traces of gilding retained over some of the handle of the object.
