Unique ID: BH-11A632

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A flint graver or scraper of probable early Mesolithic date. The object is sub-rectangular in shape, with rounded corners. It has a wide vertical central section which is unworked. One of the vertical edges slopes at an angle of approximately 45 degrees and has been re-touched with one to two rows of fine chips. The other vertical edge is thinner and has a single row of very fine re-touching. Above this re-touching is a semi-circular notch which appears to be a deliberately created aspect of the tool. The horizontal edges have been squared off. The flint is a dark greyish-brown colour. It measures 29.8mm long by 19.3mm wide and 3.1mm thick. It weighs 3.51g.
