An incomplete copper alloy dress hook, Read class A, type 2, dating from the early post-medieval period. about AD 1550 - 1700. It has a flat, oval body with three pierced lugs for attachment, one on each side of the oval and one at the base. At one end of the oval is a transverse strip, and the remains of a broad, curved hook, part of which has broken away and is missing. The face of the body is decorated with an engraved design consisting of a spray of five leaves, edged with a border of small annulets. The reverse is plain. The hook has a smooth, light green patina. It is 39mm long, 28.1mm wide and 1.9mm thick. It weighs 5.58g.

A similar dress hook is illustrated in Read, 2008, Hooked Clasps & Eyes, page 171, number 640.
