A probable Roman copper alloy furniture fitting, dating to c. AD 43-410. The fitting consists of a plano-convex knop, with a narrowed, waisted projection expanding from the base. There are traces of iron corrosion affixed to the base of the projection. The knop is undecorated except for a slightly obliquely angled incised circumferencial collar around the the base.

The finial is 20.7mm in length/height, 17.94mm in width (diameter of dome) and weighs 21.16g.

The object has broad similarities to other objects identified as Roman furniture fittings (e.g. KENT-BEFFF9, KENT-712CC9, PUBLIC-05861C, SF-0A876C), and a similar date is suggested by the amount of proportion of Roman material in the vicinity. A later date cannot be ruled out however.
