A biconical, cast lead spindle whorl dating to the medieval period.
Description: The whorl has been badly cast and the decoration is faint but both sides are decorated with a circumferential zigzag line creating triangular cells. Alternate cells are decorated with a single moulded pellet in the upper cells and three moulded pellets in the lower ones. There is a central hole 10.2mm in diameter. The edge of the whorl has a flattened area at one point with an elongated hole. This is a casting flaw rather than damage.
