A complete copper alloy halfpenny trade token, of Post Medieval dating (AD 1792).
The obverse of the token depicts the bust of General George Augustus Elliot (AD 1717 - 1790) in uniform with tricorn hat facing left with the inscription GENERAL ELLIOT and a quatrefoil below. The reverse depicts a large fleur-de-lis with the inscription BIRMINGHAM HALFPENNY and the date 1792. The edge is inscribed, originally reading PAYABLE AT HENRY BIGGS'S MOORE STREET but all that is now visible is S M.
The token is 28.19mm in diameter, 2.10mm thick and weighs 9.3g.
