Copper alloy button. Slightly concavo-convex discoid button, probably die stamped. Thre front bears the circumferential legend: CLERKSONS CHARITY. There is a cast loop brazed centrally to the back, with maker's back stamp reading: WARRANTED BEST QUALITY. Clerkson's Charity was formed in 1725 by a daughter of a prominent Kirton family. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1850-1900.
