Late Iron Age to Roman copper alloy Colchester brooch of Mackreth's (2011) Type 2 dating to the period c. AD 15 - 65. The head exhibits the stubs of flat, rectangular wings, both terminating in old breaks. projecting from the centre of the head is the stub of the integrally cast spring mechanism with, above the stub of the forward facing hook which would have held the external chord in place. The bow tapers back from the head, terminating in a worn break. The foot and catchplate are missing.
