An incomplete copper-alloy wrist or sleeve clasp of Early-Medieval date, c.AD 470 - 570. Hines form B18c. The clasp consists of a rectangular plate with one long straight edge and one curvilinear edge forming five roundels, housing four perforations, or sewing holes, between the bar and the roundels, for attachment. The upper surface of the main plate is decorated with five pairs of transverse grooves. The reverse of the clasp is flat and undecorated, and although it was originally recorded as having a hook projecting from the centre of the straight edge, from the photograph it looks as if a hook has broken away. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn.

The length is 38mm, the width is 18mm and the weight 6.06g.

Class: Hines form B18c
