A copper alloy sheet object, possibly a scale of 'lorica squamata' dating from the Roman period, AD 43 - 410. The scale is shaped like a capital letter B with one straight edge and the poosite edge being bi-convex. The sides are slightly convex. There are three equally spaced circular holes along the straight edge. The object is 23.4mm long, 34.5mm wide and 0.7mm thick. It weighs 2.14g. It has a pale, dusty patina.
This object is not typical of 'lorica squamata' which usually has scales that are rectangular with one rounded end, and numerous attachment holes at the square end in pairs. Compare BM-95F434 for a good example. However, this object is similar to LVPL-9124F6 which is three similar double plates like this one. A Post Medieval date cannot be ruled out.
