Copper alloy possible mount. A thin [0.5-0.8mm] pressed metal plate forming a skeuomorphic representation of a richly decorated strap with bordered diaper-work decoration and fringed edges, passing through a sub-rectangular double looped buckle frame with doubly indented inner and outer sides and bowed upper and lower edges. The protruding end of a pin is also modelled. The buckle form is unusual and a close parallel does not appear in Whitehead's 1996 survey. The detail of the display face recurs in strong negative detail on the back, where gilding traces appear to be trapped. The piece was presumably machine-pressed, and its clean edges might suggest it to be complete. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1660-1800.
