CANNON BALL

Unique ID: SWYOR-C925B6

Object type certainty: Possibly
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A possible stone cannon ball of medieval to Post Medieval date, about AD 1450- 1700. It is sub-spherical and made from what appears to be igneous rock, perhaps granite with possible feldspar inclusions. At 2.6 inches diameter, this ball is just too big for a Falcon cannon. It could be made for a non-standard firearm if it is a cannon ball. Other uses in industry cannot be ruled out. It is 65.6mm in diameter and weighs 380g.
