Copper alloy chafing dish fragment, as kindly identified by Tom Redmayne. Cast sub-trapezoid block with a drilled central aperture of diameter 6.9mm and the stub of a constricted lug projecting from its lower edge. Tom comments: 'I think this is more likely to be the lug from the handle of a medieval/post-medieval vessel such as a chafing dish. See examples here DENO-C3F558, SUSS-E0FFD9, LEIC-4D3A7E.', correcting an earlier9identification by this reporter. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.
