An early-medieval silver penny of Coenwulf of Mercia (796-821), minted by Wihtred in an East Anglian mint, probably Ipswich (North 372; Cn 109; Naismith E12.7). Ref: North 1994: 95; Naismith 2011.
The edges are crumpled, folded and incomplete. The reverse design is most similar to Naismith 12.7d with annulets instead of pellets within the cental box.

Reverse description: Square/diamond with a cross on each exterior corner. Within the square there is a central pellet with a four annulets surrounding it.
