Copper-alloy double-loop trapezoidal buckle of post-medieval date (c. 1620 - 1680 AD), complete with copper-alloy pin. The buckle frame has two symmetrical loops that widen from the pin bar and terminate in a widened, pointed lip between flat, circular corner knops. The back face of the object is flat, while the edges of the upper face are bevelled. There is a pin groove running across the widest point of both widened lips. The pin is tapered and rectangular in section, with one end coiled around the pin bar. The object has a matt brown-green patina. It is 33.81mm in length, 22.89mm at maximum width and 1.99mm in thickness. It weighs 5.05g.
Similar examples can be found in Whitehead (2003) Buckles, pp. 83-4, esp. nos. 522 - 524. The date range for the buckle under discussion has been given on analogy with these.
