Cast copper alloy dress fastener or eye in the shape of a bow with a central moulded roundel with incised cross hatching to create the appearance of a pomegranate or acorn. Each loop is triangular in plan and tapers towards the central roundel which is hollow at the back. The sides of the loops are D-shaped in section with rounded outer edges and straight internal edges. At the wide external ends of each loop, the outer bar is recessed and worn in the middle where it would have been attached to a hook or thread. There are patches of black lacquer on the front and back of the fastener which have been applied to protect the surface from corrosion.

Read (2008) illustrates a similar dress fastener, but with the corresponding hook, on p.112, no.448, which is classified as Class E, Type 6 and dated from the early Post-medieval period.
