A fragment of probable Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy polyhedral headed pin (700-900). Hinton 1996: 20, fig. 8, type Ac1ii/Ac2ii.
Description: The head of the pin is multi-faceted and roughly globular. The shaft is largely missing due to a fresh break. The head has a overlapping stamped ring-and-dot motif including one at the apex. The small part of the shaft is circular in cross-section with a diameter of 2.1mm.This pin has a mottled colour light green to light brown
Measurements: 20.21mm high, 19.03mm in diameter and 3.18g in weight.
Discussion: From IOW-4C38B6 'This design is typically Middle Anglo-Saxon and there are parallels from the Hamwic site at Southampton (Hinton 1996: 22, fig. 9).' Like IOW-4C38B6 this pin has no collar.
