An enamelled, copper alloy harness pendant of Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1400. It is heart-shaped, with rounded corners, and in the centre of the upper edge is a flat, integral suspension lug with a circular perforation, orientated at ninety degrees to the plane of the pendant. The front of the pendant carries a design, which is probably decorative, rather than heraldic, a vertical cross (+) or flower of four petals in each lobe of the heart, and below each, a crescent, convex side downward; these all above a star of eight rays, the lowest ray being longer than the others. The background is blue enamel, much of which remains in place. All the other elements and the outer edge of the pendant bear traces of gilding. The pendant is 43.4mm long, 25.7mm wide and 7.6mm thick. It weighs 7.56gm. The pendant is bent near the top. Heart shaped pendants are not common, but examples include SUR-069207 and HAMP-F5F061.
