A fragment of an Early Medieval coin: a silver penny. Less than quarter of the coin survives, so identification is not at all certain, but it is possibly a penny of Edward the Elder (AD 899 - 924), Portrait type, moneyer Framwis. North (1994) Voluem 1 number 651 on page 127. It is 10.2mm long, 8mm wide and 0.7mm thick. It weighs 0.23g.
