Six incomplete knapped flint barbed and tanged arrowhead dating to 2500 to 1500 BC.

  1. An incomplete knapped flint barbed and tanged arrowhead bifacially worked. It is sub-triangular and symmetrical in plan. It has two complete rounded ended notches in the base, flanking the central tang with a barb at either side. The tang is squared and slightly longer than the barb. The point is missing due to an old break. The arrowhead has invasive shallow parallel semi-abrupt retouch on both faces around the edges with unretouched area in the centre of both sides. The dorsalside has traces of cortex. The flint is pale grey with some medium grey areas and some iron staining. It measures 20.4 mm in length, 20.5 mm in width, 3.5 mm in thickness and weighs 1.31g.
  2. An incomplete knapped flint barbed and tanged arrowhead. It is bifacially worked and sub-triangular in plan in plan with slightly convex faces, particularly on the dorsal side. The arrowhead originally had two round ended notches in the base, flanking the central tang with a barb at either side, but one barb is completely missing due to a large break. The tip of the point is also missing. The arrowhead has covering shallow sub-parallel semi-abrupt retouch with no unretouched areas. The flint has developed a pale green surface with some iron staining, particularly on the dorsal face. The arrowhead measures 22.5 mm in length, 15.6 mm in width, 4.4 mm in thickness and weighs 1.25 g.
  3. An incomplete knapped flint barbed and tanged arrowhead. It is bifacially worked and symmetrical and sub-triangular in plan with slightly convex sides. It has two rounded ended notches in the base, flanking the central tang with a barb at either side. The tip of one barb and of the tang are now missing, probably due to a modern break. The tip of the tang is also worn and missing. The arrowhead has invasive, shallow parallel semi-abrupt retouch on both sides with unretouched area in the centre of both sides. The flint has developed a pale grey surface, with some iron staining and dark grey areas around the breaks. The arrowhead measures 22.4 mm in length, 17.9 mm in width, 3.3 mm in thickness and weighs 1.35 g.
  4. An incomplete knapped flint barbed and tanged arrowhead. It is bifacially worked and sub-triangular in plan with convex sides. The arrowhead originally had two round ended notches in the base, flanking the central tang with a barb at either side, but both barbs are completely missing due to old breaks. On one side the break is wider. The tang is squared. The arrowhead has covering shallow sub-parallel retouch on both sides. The flint has developed a white surface. It measures 26.7 mm in length, 19.4 mm in width, 5.5 mm in thickness and weighs 1.85 g.
  5. An incomplete knapped flint barbed and tanged arrowhead. It is bifacially worked and symmetrical and sub-triangular in plan with slightly convex sides. It has two rounded ended notches in the base, flanking the central tang with a barb at either side. The tip of both barbs is now missing. The arrowhead has covering shallow parallel semi-abrupt retouch on both sides. The flint has a mid to dark green patina. It measures 32.9 mm in length, 22.6 mm in width, 4.9 mm in thickness and weighs 2.76 g.
  6. An incomplete knapped flint barbed and tanged arrowhead. It is bifacially worked and triangular in plan with slightly convex sides. The arrowhead originally had two round ended notches in the base, flanking the central tang with a barb at either side, but both barbs and tang are completely missing due to old breaks. The arrowhead has covering shallow parallel semi-abrupt retouch on both sides. The flint has developed a pale green surface with a yellow patina. It measures 27.7 mm in length, 23.0 mm in width, 5.2 mm in thickness and weighs 2.33 g.

Butler (2005: 162) notes how such arrowheads can be linked with the early Bronze Age or Beaker period, being commonly found on sites throughout the period 2500-1500 BC.

It is unusual to find a large number of these from one site as they are usually single stray finds and therefore they have been marked as a find of note.
