A small and complete post-Medieval copper-alloy spherical bell (1600-1800).

This bell resembles an animal ('crotal') bell.

The sub-rectangular suspension loop at the top is about 5.0mm high, 8.3mm wide and 2.3mm thick. The circular hole for suspension has a diameter of 2.0mm. The upper and lower hemispheres are divided by two horizontal circumferential ridges. At one side of the upper hemisphere there is raised crown and the opposite side has an unclear raised motif. Both side of the lower hemisphere has a raised stylised human face looking forward. The sound slit at the base has a maximum width of 2.2mm. All the faces on the suspension loop have deep file marks. There are also file marks on the lips of the sound slit. An iron sound 'pea' is intact and freely moving.

This bell has a shiny green patina.

Length: 22.0mm; width: 16.3mm; thickness: 14.0mm. Weight: 5.64g.
