An incomplete fragment from a cast copper alloy sheet vessel of probable late medieval to post medieval date (1350 - 1650). The fragment comprises a single sheet of relatively thick copper alloy plate through which is a pierced hole which is filled by a rolled sheet metal rivet. There is no evidence of a rove on the rivet and It seems to have been fixed by hammering the ends flat. Due to the size of the fragment it is difficult to ascertain the size or type of vessel. The sheet is a mid green colour with a well formed patina - the edges show damage and small areas of light coloured active corrosion are present.
The fragment measures 25.9mm length 15.6mm width and is 0.9mm thick; the rivet measures 11.3mm diameter at one end and passes through a square punched hole which is 6mm x 4.1mm; the artefact weighs 2.22 grams
