A fragmentary silver-plated copper-alloy hooked tag of Early Medieval to Medieval date, c.AD 600 - 1150. Reads Class A, Type 1 or 2.
The main plate is sub-triangular with rounded sides and an integral hook extending from the pointed end. The widest section of the plate has mostly broken away, meaning that it is unclear whether the complete plate would have been sub-triangular (as Reads Class A, Type 1) or sub-circular (Reads Class A, Type 2). The hook is truncated and terminates in a worn break. None of the hook's curve remains. Traces of one attachment hole are present at one edge of the plate along the line of the break. One side of the plate is decorated with incised lines radiating from a central point with overlaying cross-hatched lines. The other side is undecorated.
The metal has a mid-green patina with traces of silver plating and is worn. The hooked tag is 17.5mm long, 15.3mm wide, 1.8mm thick and weighs 0.7g.
