A rim fragment of hard fired vessel likely jar produced in Kentish sandy ware fabric of possible late Medieval 1125 - 1250.
The fabric is medium hard fired orange externally with a grey centre and has mediumly sparse angular white shell temper. The rim has a flat top , then turned down with an outer edge angled down at 45 degrees, the lip overhang measures 8.4mm from the side of the vessel. The overall measurement of the thickness of the top is 19.50mm . Below the rim the neck constricts before widening again just before the break. Length 61.65mm, width 30.46mm. . The sherd weighs 29.59g.
