A ceramic vessel wall sherd of Medieval date, about AD 1100 - 1500. The fabric is hard and gritty, irregular in texture with frequent well sorted quartz inclusions. It is grey throughout with a dark grey outer face and a pimply surface. Compare the York Ware on page 82 of Laing, and also Coal Measures Purple Ware. It is 32.4mm long, 21.5mm wide and 5.1mm thick. 3.6g.
