Description

2018 T646: a Roman silver 'TOT' ring dating to the second or third century. The ring is of Henig type VIII and has a flat oval bezel inscribed with the letters TOT - an abbreviation of the Celtic god-name Totatis or Toutatis. The inscription is crudely done, and the 'T's resemble 'I's. The central 'O' is the same length as the flanking 'T's. To either side of the bezel is a triangular shoulder, both of which are decorated with an incised perimeter. The hoop is now squashed.
