An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy mount (c. 1600-c. 1700).

The mount is drop-shaped, convex at the front and partially concave at the rear. One end is rounded and the sides taper in to a narrow point and then flare to form an elongated pointed knop. At the rear are two integral tapering spikes, both of which are circular in cross-section. One spike is complete and only the stub of the other survives.

This mount is reddish brown with bright green corrosion products.

Length: 33.0mm; width: 11.9mm; thickness: 2.5mm; thickness including spike: 5.6mm. Weight: 3.23g.

A similar mount has been published and illustrated (Read 2001: 29, fig. 22, ref: 328).
