A cast, incomplete Post-Medieval buckle frame dating to the period c.1570-1700.

Description: The frame is double-looped and trapezoidal in plan, concave sides. The buckles reverse is hollow although the frame is still thick. The upper surface of the buckle has cast decoration formed by raised long bars and smaller bars. The buckle is missing its' pin but is otherwise in good condition. It is dark grey-green colour where the metal is visible under the dirt

Measurements: 39.67mm long, 30.95mm wide, 3.64mm thick and 10.75g in weight.

Discussion: Similar buckle forms are listed by Whitehead (1996, 81) and a very similar example is listed on the PAS database at IOW-4BBA14, and are all dated to late 16th to 17th century in dte.
