A cast lead-alloy object, probably part of a spoon handle dating to the Post-Medieval period (c. AD 1600-1700). The surviving part of the object is sub-trapezoidal in shape and oval in cross-section, being broken at either end. The slightly bowed and bevelled outer edges are intact but have laminated in places. The upper surface is decorated in a low-relief moulded design consisting of an arrangement of vertical, horizontal and diagonal ribs surmounted by a short series of dots, but the composition is generally obscured by its worn condition. The outer edges of the upper surface are also decorated with a series of short horizontal ribs. The underside is slightly concave and undecorated. The object is a mid-brown buff colour all over with a patchy abraded patina on the underside. The spoon handle fragment measures 23mm in length, 22mm in width and 3.5mm in thickness. It weighs 6.14 grams.
