A complete copper alloy Strap End of Early-Medieval date (AD 875-1100). The object is of openwork design in the Winchester style, with both zoomorphic and plant-scroll decoration.
The object is U-shaped and moulded in the round, with a recessed flat end with three circular perforations equally spaced along it.
The moulded decoration takes the form of two vertically-arranged birds, facing each other with a plant of three stems between. Each snout curves upwards to form the lower outer edge of the frame. The remaining central upper portion depicts the sub-ovate head of a serpent or bird with two curvilinear plant stems above and beyond the recessed portion.
