Incomplete Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative hinged brooch of Mackreth's (2011) Type CD H dating to the period c. AD 50 - 150. The remaining portions of both wings are plain, both terminating in old breaks. They exhibit a transverse seam across the underside within which can be seen the remains of the iron axis bar. At the centre of the head is a slot for this missing pin. The bow arches back from the head, terminating in an old break. It exhibits a central ridge which peters out along the length of the bow. The lower bow, foot and catchplate are missing.
