An incomplete cast copper alloy knife end-cap or stop. The cap is zoomorphic and in the form of a stylised animal's head, possibly imitating a heraldic emblem such as a bear or dog's head. The head is oval in plan and has three grooves along the top of the head. The eyes are concave, and the snout is open. A deep groove runs diagonally across each side of the head. A slot runs across the base of the knife, in which there are remains of iron corrosion.
