Medieval copper alloy single loop buckle with sheet plate dating to the period c. AD 1200 - 1450. Narrowed and offset strap bar with a small knop at either end. D shaped frame with a triangular, notched front edge flanked by two knops on either side. The butt of the wire pin is wrapped around the strap bar. The sheet plate is rectangular; foded around the strap bar with a central notch cut to allow the pin to swivel and a notch cut in either side to accomodate the frame. The upper and lower plate exhibit four rivet holes, each of which retains a copper alloy rivet with roved over ends. The front plate is decorated by a border of punched opposed triangles. Traces of file marks are visible on the buckle frame.
