A small flaked axehead. The axe is cordate in shape, oval in cross section and is bifacially worked. Both faces show invasive covering flaking with some flakes terminating in hinge fractures indicating probable use of a hard hammer. The flint is opaque and with a light beige, chalky patina, with multiple areas of less siliceous honey-coloured flint. Areas of ferrous staining are visible mainly on the flake ridges. A remnant of a the striking platform is evident at one end and it is possible the axe was made on a large, naturally fractured piece.
