Late medieval copper alloy integrally cast handle lug from a vessel, probably a laver, dating to the period c. AD 1350 - 1500. It comprises an anthropomorphic bust moulded in three dimensions; the hair moulded to form a central parting with tresses falling to chin length on either side. The texture indicated by a series of engraved wavy lines. The face exhibits engraved lentoid eyesand a moulded, flattened triangular nose with engraved lips directly below. The chin appears square. The head tapers towarda the back and exhibits a central oval slot for insertion of the missing handle. The head tapers into a short next which then expands into the chest. Projecting from the shoulders on either side and from the bottom of the bust are the remains of the vessel rim.
Ahmet (2017) in the record for KENT-C25921 states: "This kind of mount belongs to a group of copper-alloy vessel with decorative handle mounts and spouts produced predominantly in the 15th century (although perhaps as early as the late 14th) in North-East France and Belgium (Flanders). With a complete example held in the British Museum, accession number 1956,0702.1 and several others illustrated by Begrundet von Otto von Falke and Erich Meyer (2000). A number of similar examples have been reported to the PAS although the type remains relatively scarce.
