An incomplete copper alloy heraldic harness pendant of medieval date (AD 1200-1400). The object is shield shape and flat with upper projecting integral suspension loop set at right angles to the plate. The loop is broken and the retained portion is now represented by two spurs. Both faces of the pendant are heavily abraded and only a minor amount of the design is visible. This is the escutcheon of the royal arms of England (Gules three lions passant guardant in pale Or armed and langued azure). There is a small amount of red enamelled retained on the upper face. Minor traces of gilding are retained on the front of the object. The back surface of the object is undecorated.
The metal is a light green in colour with a pitted and corroded patina.
