Two modern copper alloy military buttons, 25mm in diameter and 6mm thick with a weight of 4.50g each.

The buttons are circular in form and semi-circular in cross section and are in good condition. The buttons are hollow and formed of two parts with a central loop attached to the centre of the flat underside. The buttons are decorated with a relief hanging rounded bugle enclosed in a solid raised border with the inscription FIRST LEICESTERSHIRE RIFLE VOLUNTEERS around the edge.

The LRV were founded in 1859 as an early unit of the British Volunteer Force. They served on the western front in 14-18 and went on to become the parent unit of the Terrotorial Army in Leics.
