An incomplete copper alloy Roman Hod Hill brooch dating from c. AD 43-75. The brooch has an arched rectangular central plate with 2 horizontal projecting circular 'lugs'. The main bow plate has 3 pronounced vertical ribs, surmounted with a pair of horizontal ridges, with a single horizontal rib beneath. The pin lugs, pin and much of the foot are missing, a small section of the catch plate remains. Similar examples are illustrated in Mackreth (2011, Vol 2, page 97, plate 94).
The surface has a dark green patina with some ferrous staining.
