A post-medieval copper alloy dress hook, eye-section, of Read's Class A Type 2 dating from AD 1500 - 1700.
The sub-oval plate is orientated transversely; it has a raised rim and moulded decoration. At one end is a rounded attachment knop while at the opposite end is the sub-rectangular eye-section (loop, 8.4mm internal width). Just below this, projecting from the corners of the plate, are two further attachment holes. The centre of the plate is decorated with two addorsed flowers on stalks and with leaves springing from a central bar, all within a beaded frame.

The reverse is flat and undecorated.The object has a greenish-brown patina and measures 33.9mm in length, 26.3mm in max.width, 2.2mm in thickness and weighs 5.8g.
