Incomplete fragment of a cast copper-alloy cooking vessel of Medieval to Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1100-1850. The leg fragment is roughly rectangular in plan and ovate in section expanding towards the top where it expands into a flattened triangular-sectioned terminal which would have joined with the vessel proper. A slight ridge runs down the outer edge of the leg. The fragment is otherwise undecorated. There is a break at the bottom of the object.

While it is not possible to allocate this fragment to a specific type it is likely to be from a large cooking vessel and dates from c.AD 1100 to c.AD 1850 when the use of cast iron cooking vessels predominates.

The metal has a black patina and is worn. The fragment is 48.5mm long, 17.5mm wide, 19.3mm thick and weighs 46.2g.

Similar objects have been recorded on the database as WAW-B99374, YORYM-B65753, and NLM-1CEE31.

Vessel legs of this type are discussed in Butler, Green, and Payne (2009) and a similar leg type is illustrated on p.8, fig.7.
